Description/Job Summary

The Regional Manager leads and manages an assigned regional office lending and crop insurance team, while also managing a loan portfolio.

Individual Portfolio Development and Management

  • Originates loan applications
  • Performs credit analysis and administration
  • Collects and assesses qualitative and quantitative business and financial information to determine eligibility
  • Communicates with Credit Services Division to negotiate and influence the credit decision
  • Closes the loans, creates a positive member experience and continues to service the loan
  • Provides innovative and workable alternatives to counsel and solve problems the customer faces in their ongoing farm operations
  • Selects, develops, motivates and empowers the lending and crop insurance team members
  • Directs and motivates employees towards objectives by establishing performance standards and measures performance against standards
  • Provides feedback and rewards employees for performance in a timely manner
  • Coaches and counsels employees to improve performance
  • Recruits, hires and on-boards new hires for the regional office
  • Approves and denies expense reports and leave requests
Regional Office Performance
  • Monitors credit and crop insurance administration
  • Monitors regional office performance by ensuring processes and procedures are being followed
  • Reviews reports and tracks progress of various performance measures
  • Implements change in direction, allocates resources, and provides coaching and training needs when needed
Sales Management
  • Determines loan pricing and structure
  • Assists in negotiations of loan pricing and terms, and provides additional expertise and resources
  • Promotes cross-selling of products and services to members
Public Relations
  • Participates in customer appreciation events and activities to enhance relationships
  • Develops and maintains a professional presence in the ag community through active involvement in professional groups and community activities
  • Monitors the public relations budget and time allocation
  • Identifies key contacts and resources to build relationships
Budget Management
  • Creates annual regional office budget for approval
  • Approves and denies budget requests, capital purchases, invoices, regional office public relations, and marketing activities
  • Manages building maintenance by obtaining bids and approving contracts when needed
  • Assesses training needs and determines resources needed
  • Provides training to co-workers through information sharing, small group discussions, idea exchanges, job shadowing and mentoring
Committee Involvement
  • Participates in various committees to provide insight for and develop processes and procedures
  • Provides ideas and shares feedback

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of business development, credit extension, credit administration, and portfolio management procedures
  • Knowledge of production agriculture
  • General knowledge of ag macro and micro economics
  • Skill in utilizing a systematic approach to problem solving
  • Skill in interacting and working effectively with others
  • Skill in managing own emotions and understanding and managing the emotional reactions of others
  • Skill in identifying, addressing and collaboratively resolving conflicts
  • Skill in differentiating significant and insignificant details
  • Skill in listening and conveying awareness of a customer's problem or issue to find resolution
  • Skill in negotiating agreements to achieve the best outcome for the organization
  • Skill in engaging, collaborating, and building trust amongst team members
  • Oral and written communication skills, sufficient to exchange information effectively with peers, supervisor and customers

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, agriculture, or communications and 5 years of experience in sales, agribusiness, credit analysis or crop insurance;
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
